Originally built as SLSF 2-10-2 #41 in October of 1917, it was totally transformed by the Frisco West Shops in Springfield, MO in 1940. The end rebuild was SLSF 4-8-2 Mountain type steam loco #4410. This powerful and good looking loco was used in high speed passenger service even near its final days. The loco was finally sold for scrap in October of 1952 as many of its sisters were. Specs - serial #46712, 70" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 449,760 lb, tractive effort of 68,600 lb. No date, location or photographer listed for the photo. An approximate date was used. |
